PRIVATE · FREE

The download will be at or below this limit. 1 KB = 1,024 bytes. JPG fills transparent areas with white; WebP can keep transparency.

Your image stays on your device. No upload, account or watermark. Check the preview before using the download.

How to use this image compressor

Make an image fit a file-size limit for a form, attachment or website. Choose the maximum size and download a JPG or WebP result. Your selected image stays in your browser.

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image from your device.
  2. Select a quick limit, such as 100 KB or 200 KB, or enter your own maximum in KB.
  3. Choose JPG or WebP, then select Compress image.
  4. Review the actual file size, dimensions and preview before downloading.

How the file size is reduced

Example: make an image fit a 200 KB limit

Original: 1,024 KB · Maximum: 200 KB · Output: JPG

Example download size
198 KB
Size reduction
80.7%

A 198 KB download fits a 200 KB ceiling and is about 80.7% smaller than a 1,024 KB original. This is an illustrative example, not a guaranteed result: image detail, dimensions, format and browser affect the actual output.

Useful to know

Limits use 1 KB = 1,024 bytes and 1 MB = 1,024 KB. The target is a maximum, not an exact final size. Inputs are limited to 50 MB, 12,000 pixels per side and 40 megapixels; device memory can impose lower limits. Use static images: animation is not preserved when re-encoding. Compression can change quality or reduce dimensions, so review text and fine details before submitting important images.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress an image to 200 KB?

Choose an image, select the 200 KB preset and press Compress image. The tool measures each candidate and only offers a result at or below the ceiling. It may reduce dimensions if changing quality alone is not enough.

Are my images uploaded or stored?

No. Reading, compression and preview happen in your browser. Prontiko does not receive the image, its contents or its file name. Download the result to keep it on your device.

Can I compress an image without losing quality?

JPG and lossy WebP compression can discard detail. A smaller limit may also require smaller dimensions. If your original already fits and matches the selected format, the tool offers it unchanged. Otherwise, check the original and download previews.

Can I download a compressed PNG?

This tool accepts PNG input but downloads JPG or WebP, because their quality can be adjusted to meet a file-size limit. WebP can preserve transparency; JPG fills transparent areas with white. For PNG output or a particular pixel size, use the Image Resizer.

Why is the download smaller than the maximum I entered?

The limit is a ceiling, not a request to add bytes. The output may be well below it, especially for a simple image. If an upload form uses 1 KB = 1,000 bytes instead, enter a slightly lower limit here or use the file-size limit specified by that form.
